Continuous Business Forms Paper

  • A type of printing paper which consists of a single sheet or roll of paper, normally perforated at regular intervals so that sheets can be easily separated. Most continuous-form paper has holes punched along each side so that the paper can be pulled through the printer by a tractor-feed mechanism.

Cash Register Paper Rolls

  • Paper rolls which are used for billing purposes or which are used in billing machine, cash register, atm machines etc.

Coating

  • Process by which paper or board is coated with an agent to improve its brightness and/or printing properties

Coated Paper

  • Coated papers have a smooth clay coating applied over a freesheet or groundwood base paper. The base paper is made first, then put through a "bath" of clay coating or coated while running on a machine, with a blade and calender rollers smoothing out the coating on the paper.
  • The clay coating often accounts for as much as half the weight of the paper. (Therefore, 10% postconsumer fiber content in a coated paper may actually equal only 5% of the total sheet.)
  • They are particularly valued by many for their crisp, vibrant reproduction of four-color graphics and photographs.
  • Coated papers are categorized into grades by their brightness and gloss levels.
  • The coating may be finished to a high or dull gloss, or may be matte (not glossy), with other slight variations on these categories.
  • "Matte" finish coated papers are chosen for their look, when a gloss coated paper does not convey the context or "feel" that the paper specifier wants to project.
  • The coating on matte grades is not slick or shiny, but it is also excellent in reproducing 4-color printing processes.

C1S Coated Paper

  • Name means "Coated 1-side"
  • Typically used for making labels ,Greeting Cards

C2S Coated Paper

  • Name means "Coated 2 sides"

MWC Paper

  • Medium weight, two-side coated.
  • A luxurious paper for high-quality magazines and catalogues.
  • This coated grade is perfect for top-quality print jobs and its gloss and smoothness enhance detailed images.
  • An excellent brightness-opacity combination makes this paper a perfect choice.

LWC Paper

  • Light weight, two-side coated mechanical reel printing paper with a grammage of less than 72g.
  • It is used for magazines, mail-order catalogues etc. that are mostly produced in gravure or web offset printing.

Copy Paper

  • Copy paper is also called "copier paper," "repro," and "xerographic"
  • It is a "white commodity paper" made in extremely high volumes, with small profit margins
  • It is specially moisture-balanced to operate problem-free in photocopiers.
  • Similar papers used to be divided into "bond" and "high speed (copier) " grades, but those seem to be collapsed into the "copy paper" grade now
  • Office printer companies have recently begun differentiating between "copy papers," "laser papers," and "ink jet papers," particularly in office supply stores, although all these papers are very similar. Ink jet papers have a tighter surface, for better ink hold-out and less splattering.
  • Many papers are now being marketed as "multi-purpose" or "dual purpose," made to be appropriate for use in the most common types of office machines, including copiers and different types of printers
  • It is not necessary to use brand name papers with the same brand name office machine, or to use laser papers only in laser printers. (Laser printers and copiers are essentially the same technology.) The papers are essentially interchangeable.
  • In the past few years, heavier weight copier papers have been introduced (24 lb., as opposed to the previous standard of 20 lb.) These use more fiber to make the paper, not a positive environmental direction, and are unnecessary for most copier purposes.
  • Copy paper usually comes in cut sizes of 8-1/2 x 11, 8 x 14, and sometimes 11 x 17. It may also be hole-punched. It is most often sold in reams or cartons. Some specialized copy paper, for specific machines, comes in rolls.
  • While the majority of copy paper is white, it also often comes in colors
  • Many paper manufacturers guarantee that their recycled copier paper will work fine in copiers. Today's recycled copier paper is high quality. It is important to use a paper graded as "copier" in copier machines to avoid jams and other problems.

Recycled paper

  • Paper which has been made partly or wholly from recycled fiber.

Newsprint Paper

  • Newsprint is a highly mechanical, machine-finished or calendered rotary printing paper (40 - 56g) mainly made from mechanical and increasingly waste paper pulps. In line with its intended use as a short-lived information medium, the demands on newsprint in terms of optical properties or printability are lower than those on other, e.g. coated printing papers. Newsprint must have a very good runnability: today's state-of-the-art printing techniques require a paper with a good tear strength so that the uninterrupted production on high-speed rotary presses is ensured. Newsprint is used for dailies, weeklies and free journals produced in letterpress or offset printing.
  • In parts of Asia, newsprint also finds an end-use in school exercise books. The furnish of newsprint is mainly mechanical pulp and/or recycled fiber.

Calendered Paper

  • Paper that has been smoothed and compacted between the rolls of a calender and is thus more or less glossy (sharp or matt calendered). The effect produced in the calender unit is the result of friction combined with temperature and pressurePaper that has been smoothed and compacted between the rolls of a calender and is thus more or less glossy (sharp or matt calendered). The effect produced in the calender unit is the result of friction combined with temperature and pressure.

Supercalendered (SC) Paper

  • Paper treated in a supercalender, usually separate from the paper machine; uncoated magazine paper.

Board Generic

  • Term for stiff paper usually made in several layers with a substance normally varying from 160 to 500/g/m2, for certain grades even higher; widely used for packaging (e.g. folding cartons) and graphic applications.

Cupstock Boards (Poly Coated)

  • These are single or both sides poly coated boards developed on a special cupstock base with adequate internal sizing, to perform faultlessly on beverage cup forming lines.
  • Uses: * Hot beverage cups * Cold beverage cups * Part line disposables * Food catering * Chocolate / Confectionary containers.

SBS Board

  • Solid-Bleached Sulfate (SBS) board for packaging applications has a smooth, consistent surface and ultra-bright, blue-white premium styling to showcase high-impact graphics.
  • It provides superior ink holdout, helping commercial printers and folding carton manufacturers achieve maximum color vibrancy, fidelity and design flexibility in their work. It works well for products that are sensitive to packaging that can affect their scent, taste or purity.

Box Board

  • Term designating board used in the manufacture of boxes. May be made of wood pulp or wastepaper. May be plain, lined or clay coated.
  • A class of board frequently lined on one or both sides, with good folding properties and used for making box and cartons.

Folding Boxboard

  • Single or multi-layer paperboard made from primary and/or secondary fibers, sometimes with a coated front, used to make consumer packaging.

Duplex

  • Paper having a different color on each side.

Coated Duplex Board

  • Paperboard made with two plies or layers. Normally two layers are formed and joined together at wire part.Coated on the both sides of a sheet.
  • It is used for packaging purposes.

Gypsum Board (Gypsum wallboard facing paper, Gypsum Liner)

  • Board used for the manufacture of Gypsum Wallboard Panels.

Kraftliner

  • Paperboard of grammages of 120g and more, generally made from bleached or unbleached sulfate pulp and used as an outer ply in corrugated board.

White Top Liner

  • A two-ply sheet comprised of one bleached and one unbleached layer.

Testliner

  • Mainly produced from waste paper used as even facing for corrugated board or as liner of solid board. They are often produced as duplex (two-layer) paper. The grammage is higher than 125 gsm.

Fluting

  • Waves or corrugation in heat-set web offset prints that runs in the press direction.

Corrugated Board

  • Usually a nine-point board after if has passed through a corrugating machine. When this corrugated board is pasted to another flat sheet of board, it becomes single-faced corrugated board; if pasted on both sides, it becomes double-faced corrugated board or corrugated (shipping) containerboard.

Corrugated Container

  • Containers made with corrugating medium and linerboard.

Flute

  • One of the wave shapes pressed into corrugated medium. Flutes are categorized by the size of the wave. A, B, C, E and F are common flute types, along with a variety of much larger flutes and smaller flutes.

Carbonless Copy Paper

  • Paper that is treated or coated so that it will generate a copy under pressure.
